Gisghaast Graphic Recording

What Is Graphic Recording?

Graphic recording is the practice of visually capturing conversations, meetings, teachings, and gatherings in real time. Through drawings, symbols, and words, I create a visual map of what is shared—making knowledge easier to understand, remember, and return to.

In Indigenous spaces, this can support:

  • Community gatherings and consultations
  • Elder and Knowledge Keeper teachings
  • Land-based learning and workshops
  • Healing, planning, and visioning sessions
  • Conferences, panels, and storytelling events

Why Indigenous-Led Graphic Recording Matters

My approach prioritizes:

  • Cultural safety and respect
  • Consent and accountability
  • Honouring oral traditions and collective knowledge
  • Strength-based, non-extractive documentation

This is not just note-taking—it is visual witnessing.
